Our Process
Felling
Trees are felled every day for a variety of reasons. Whatever the reason, Bay Area Redwood works with partnering arborists to cut these trees into large segment upon removal. Once the tree is out of the ground, we haul it to our local log recycling yard.
Milling & Curing
After logs are dropped at our facility, the manufacturing stages of the process begin. We start by milling each log into slabs or dimensional lumber and begin the drying process.
Finishing
Cured slabs are either sold rough or sent to our fabricator, Luis, in West Oakland. Then slabs are sealed using a variety of finishes from natural oil blends to conversion varnish. Then, they are brought directly to a customer, to our San Ramon showroom, or our local warehouse.
